Tension released. Dinner went very well. Mom cried, but she managed to stay sane until I headed home at 7:30. Now we wait until Wednesday next week for news.
I'm finding solace tonight in watching Breakfast at Tiffany's for the zillionth time. Sure, they ruined the book's ending, but I just love this movie. The music really makes it, too - that random Mose Allison-type jazz. I'm also flipping through all the catalogs that have come this week. The quantity of slick pages that hit my mailbox expands exponentially from now until the end of December. Guess it's like that for everybody. Does anybody out there actually buy from these things? Not me. Although maybe, just maybe, I might have to purchase this octopus.
So sweet.
Im at the party scene now, where Meg Wildwood brings Rusty Trawler, the ninth richest man under 50. It just occurred to me that Absolute Beginners, the musical that David Bowie did back in the early 80s, was based on this party scene. The vibes very similar, with Gil Evans, the Squeeze and an early Sade performance.
Still in a weird mood. It will be a good night to pull Tarot. I could use some external voices right now.
Small piece of good news. Momma Guerin does have Halloween pics, and if I develop em this weekend, you all can hopefully see Batgirl on Monday. Yay!
Saturday night Im making dinner for Scratcher, my first time doing real food for him instead of just taking leftovers over. He loves rabbit, so Ill probably braise one with some chanterelles and morels (I have em dried) with red wine. Serve it over soft, sage-scented polenta enriched with teleme. How about a nice fennel, orange and pomegranate salad, too? Nummy. Well open a bottle of wine, light a fire and enjoy the rain on on my noisy tiled roof.
Succor. Surcease. At least for a night.
