Yes, oh yes, oh yesyesyesyesyes. The conference is over. I'm free. I worked 25 hours in two days, not including biking to and from the event with an additional 35+ pounds in my backpack each day because I think driving anywhere within 10 miles is stupid. The conference was a nightmare: as one of two women running the show, I: broke down a riser and built a ramp for a disabled speaker, re-typed another speaker's 35-page presentation when he realized that he didn't bring the fucking disk with him from Ohio, acted as a trash can for all the complaints about having a no-host bar this year due to budget cuts, and turned down a row 113 A's v. Mariners seat for last night.
Wait. What??
That's right, one of our attendees offered me a seat at the A's/Mariners game Friday night - a seat in row 113, which is directly behind home plate - a seat where you are so close, you can see the sweat on Eric Chavez' brow when he's up to bat - and I had to turn it down because I couldn't leave the conference early enough to drive to Oakland. Waaaaa! Ator, you feel my pain, right? A free ticket - to a series that matters! I could have watched Bret Boone's hips rise and flip when he goes across the bag to toss to first on a double play!
Sigh. Anyway. The good news is that in between all of my problem solving the last two days, I found lots of time to knit. My mitered squares bag is about 80% finished; I have four squares left, and should be able to finish those today and tomorrow. Yeah! Pictures when I can.
Oooh, and I have an idea about the Batgirl costume. There's a site that sells violet unitards. I could make the utility belt out of deep yellow fleece. Buying some knee-high stiletto boots (mmm, stilettoes) sounds like fun. Put it all together with fringed gloves and a mask and you have...Batgirl! Pow! Splat! Blam!
I will have a juicy, full-flavored and fully ripened entry for you later - including some recipes from last week's dinner party, which was terrific - but for now I'm off to cheer up Miss Beek.
Kisses.
