Today's menu:
Grilled halibut with blood orange salsa verde Grilled asparagus with sieved egg Toasted orechiette with roasted garlic Strawberry shortcake with Meyer Lemon curd
That's right, I'll be completely making a pig of myself. Woo hoo. Lucky Mom still has some of the lemon curd I made for gifts back in the day; both she and Daddy love it. Writing menus is a real joy. Cooking the stuff is just gravy. Now I'm off to the farmer's market to find organic strawberries and asparagus. Side note: It's Pacific halibut season, everybody. Pacific halibut is one of the few species that is not overfished and is sustainably maintained. Buy some and eat it today. It tastes clean, it takes to lots of different flavors (try oranges, capers, cilantro), and it's fresh this second. Learn how to pick out fish and go get some. And please, stay the hell away from Atlantic salmon. The stuff is evil. AND spend the extra money; buy organic strawberries if you can. Strawberries have more stuff sprayed on them than any other produce item. I know it's expensive, but they do taste much better. Happy Mother's Day. Sorry about the rant.
