Thank you to those who have expressed sympathy about Raba. I did not know him well, but every interaction we had was unusually positive, and I honor his memory. We're also making donations to a trust fund for his children.

Before I forget, go check out Anna Chambers' updated site. She has extremely cute t-shirts for sale; I pre-ordered one today as a cheer-up measure. No more stuffed animals, though. I guess Meiji and his buddies will have to be lonely for a while.
I am just back from the doctor and a long wait at Walgreen's for four prescriptions. Apparently I have bronchitis and an ear infection and a whole separate sinus infection going on. That explains why my right ear feels like it's being pierced with an ice pick - which, hey!, is new today. Doc Malabed says I should feel "somewhat better" on Friday. Is it me or does that sound like she's hedging her bets?
In the mean time I've been out on the bike trail almost every day, trying to get my lung capacity back up to normal. It's time to start taking the camera; this morning I saw some kind of red-breasted hawk, dragonflies, and a cadre of ground squirrels munching on new thistle growth. Who knew that thistles were edible?
There will be more to add later today, but my four-hour absence from the office means that I've a stack of supposed emergencies waiting.
