The bad news is that I'm home with an extremely uncomfortable bellyache. The good news is that I'm about 2/3 done with the Rachel top mentioned yesterday for Miss Beek. If you can't eat, can't work out and are too nauseated to go to work, you might as well knit. Woohoo for soothing hobbies. I've made a few changes to the pattern. The original is only 9" long in the size small Beek requires, and she's not likely to wear anything that short. So I added in 2" of stockinette at the bottom and an additional 1" at the top with additional decreases, to better fit her. The straps that wrap around her chest won't attach directly to the bottom of the piece, but intead be sewn on about 1 1/2" up, so that there's less possibility for gapping. Also, because I ended up finding the correct gauge with two strands of Velvet Touch (color 2052)and one of Linie 67 Como (color 4), this top is extra soft and fuzzy, so the yarnovers don't look quite right. I' addressing this by putting beads from my unending stash into the holes. There will likely also be beading along the stockinette border. Since the knitting and blocking will be finished in another hour or two, there should be plenty of time to finish the whole project today. I know, there should be pictures to demonstrate all of this, but while the digital camera now permanently lives in my knitting bag, the connector is at work. Sorry, folks, must wait until tomorrow. Oof. More water, please, and then pass those straight 11s back this way.
