The Baby Guerin sweater is moving along. The pattern, a freebie from about.com's glut, is simple enough. Originally it called for #8s. I couldn't find mine (I think they're in the bag with the in-progress baby bibs) and began on #10s. Oddly enough, this is working out just fine. I swatched and found that the 10s are what I would have needed anyway. This being the first fitted piece I've done (in other words, where gauge matters), now I'm wondering if my knitting tends to be tight. It doesn't feel that way, but I do hold my needles a little differently, and knit Continental style. It feels more natural. Doesn't everyone say that about their projects? The down side to this sweater is the yarn. While it's gorgeous - deep army green with tiny blue and fuschia flecks - it's a bit scratchy, which has me worried. It'll hopefully soften up a bit with washing. And knowing Baby Guerin's mom, it'll be washed in hot water over and over. If she washes it at all...she's the last living hippie. Who else would go to Belize just to get pregnant?
